What is 3icon.com?
3icon.com is an online information hub geared towards international students from all over the world. Currently, our resources are mostly focused in the United States, so most of our contents are of relevance to international students currently in the United States or those planning to pursue their studies as international students in the United States. We are currently updating our resources to better serve international students in other countries.
Where do we get our information?
3icon.com is run and managed by international students located in various places in the United States and a few in other countries. Because of this broad resource pool, we are able to get information directly various colleges and universities. Information regarding immigration are largely taken from government (immigration) websites. Our advisers are qualified individuals in their respective field.
Are members of the team paid?
No. Most members of the team (contributors, authors and editors) are international students in the United States, and are strictly prohibited from any forms of paid employment without proper authorization from the Department of Homeland Security – United States Customs and Immigration Services. Their contributions to this website are voluntary and unpaid. They do not receive any forms of compensation. They volunteer their time, and writing and research skills because this is a good practice to hone one’s English writing skills. They also take pride in what they do because it is helping other international students in a lot of ways.
Why are we accepting advertisements?
The technical aspects of maintaining an online community is NOT FREE and is very expensive. This online community is hosted on a dedicated server through a lease agreement with our web hosting company (e.g. Amazon, GoDaddy, Yahoo). We are currently considering different financing options to run this online community, and one of them is selling advertising space.
